Sharon Benjamin Bar Ziv is an award-winning writer and director whose work bridges the worlds of cinema and television with a distinctive emotional and visual signature.
A graduate of Tel Aviv University’s prestigious Department of Film & Television, Sharon began his creative journey on stage as an actor with the Israeli National Theatre before transitioning into screenwriting for the hit TV series Shemesh.
His debut feature film, Room 514 (2012), earned the Special Jury Prize for Best New Narrative Director at Tribeca, and was selected for more than 35 international festivals, including Cannes (ACID), Rotterdam (World Premiere), Warsaw, and Karlovy Vary. The film garnered multiple additional awards, achieved worldwide distribution through The Party Film (international), Sophie Dulac (France), Film Movement (USA), and was acquired by the New York Public Library’s Reserve Film Collection.
His second feature, Good Morning Son (2019), premiered internationally at the Haifa International Film Festival, was released theatrically in the US, and received the German Film Association’s Special Award at the Mannheim Film Festival.
In 2024, Sharon completed Wild Urge, his first English-language feature, shot with an international crew across Europe. The film’s World Premiere was held in Sofia, where it was celebrated as an artistic achievement and a tribute to leading actor Samuel Finzi.
